Weekly Musings on gratitude and contentment

Let’s start the week with a list of what I’m thankful for!  Good way to put things in perspective.

**Gratitude list**

  • Energy and strength for yard work
  • Sunshine
  • People taking our unwanted items-meets their needs and frees up room for us
  • Sermons that make you think and are Biblically based
  • Face time with  son and grandkids– twice this weekend!!
  • A friend to video talk with, via Marco Polo

What I’m currently reading

I’m TOTALLY loving Ann Voskamps book, The Broken Way!!  I will be re-reading this. So many truths that I want to  ponder and apply to my life. As I’m reading this, I’m reminded that God doesn’t need us all shiny, perfect and put together; but, rather, can use us as we are-broken people.

A couple of quotes from the book

“Grace embraces you before you prove anything, and after you’ve done everything wrong.”

God is good and full of grace.

“There is a wooing that washes your wounds”

God wants a relationship with us! Amazing!   We can come to God as we are and He cleanses and heals, as ONLY HE CAN.

*Bible Verses I’m meditating on*

Ecclesiastes 4:6 ESV, “ Better is a handful of quietness than two handfuls of toil and striving after wind. “

Ecclesiastes 5:10, “ He who loves money will not be satisfied with money,  nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.”

Ecclesiastes 5:20, “ For he will not much remember the days of his

life because God keeps him occupied with joy in his heart. “

Our world tells us hustling-making more money is the way to go. God’s word says differently.  It’s far better to be living a quiet, simple life. We DON’T always have to be on the go. We can slow down. We can learn to be content with what God has provided. He is enough for us. If we have God as our LORD and Savior, we have all we need.

What I’m loving from the web

↑One of my favorites that I re-read from time to time!

“It’s okay to want less instead of wanting more”

LOVE that!!  I find great freedom in contentment and wanting less. Being content with the here and now, and in what God is providing now. My soul is lighter when I’m focused on God and not what I think I’m lacking.
